Product Hunt Badge: How to Get It and Embed It on Your Site

Quick answer: Get your Product Hunt badge from the Embed link at the top right of your launch page. Pick a theme (light, neutral or dark), pick the Featured badge or, if your launch was a top post for its day or week, the Top Post badge, then copy the code into your site. Product Hunt suggests adding it to your homepage, a sitewide banner or your blog on launch day.

The Product Hunt badge is the small “Featured on Product Hunt” button makers put on their site to send visitors to their launch. This page covers every badge Product Hunt offers, where to get the code, what it looks like, and where to put it, using Product Hunt's own help center and launch guide.

Which Product Hunt badges exist

Product Hunt gives makers two kinds of badges: launch badges, tied to one launch, and product badges, tied to the product page that collects every launch and review.

Badges come in light, neutral and dark themes. Launch badges are 250 by 54 pixels.

How to get your Product Hunt badge

From Product Hunt's help article on adding a badge to your website:

  • Open your launch page while signed in as one of its makers.
  • Click Embed at the top right of the launch page.
  • Pick a theme: light, neutral or dark, to suit the background it will sit on.
  • Pick the badge. Featured is the standard launch badge. If your launch was a top post for its day or week, you can choose the Top Post badge instead.
  • Copy the code and paste it into your site's HTML, or into an HTML or embed block in your site builder.

What the embed code looks like

The code is a link to your product on Product Hunt wrapped around an image that Product Hunt draws for you. The image address carries your launch's numeric post ID and the theme, so the badge updates by itself as your score changes.

Featured badge, light theme

Replace the product address and YOUR_POST_ID, or copy the finished code from your Embed page.

<a href="https://www.producthunt.com/products/your-product" target="_blank">
  <img
    src="https://api.producthunt.com/widgets/embed-image/v1/featured.svg?post_id=YOUR_POST_ID&theme=light"
    alt="Your Product - Featured on Product Hunt"
    width="250"
    height="54"
  />
</a>
Copy the real code from your Embed page rather than typing it out: it fills in your numeric post ID, which is not the name in your launch's address, along with Product Hunt's tracking parameters.

Where to put the badge, and when

Product Hunt's guide to sharing your launch lists the badges among launch-day tasks and suggests three places for them:

  • Your homepage, near the main call to action, where visitors already arriving that day will see it.
  • A sitewide banner for launch day, so people in your app or docs see it too.
  • Your blog or changelog, in the post announcing the launch.

The same guide asks makers to invite people to give feedback and comment, not to ask for upvotes. Put a short line next to the badge that says what is new and that you would like to hear what they think. The Product Hunt comments guide covers how to answer them once they arrive.

After launch day, the badge still works as social proof on your homepage and press page. If you finished as a top post, swap in the Top Post badge.

What the badge does not do

A badge sends your own visitors to your launch. It does not change how Product Hunt ranks it. The number on the Featured badge is your launch's score, which is weighted points, not raw upvotes. On 496 launches listed on LaunchPact (August 16 to October 1, 2026), the score Product Hunt reported was 64.5% of the raw vote count. Our guide on buying Product Hunt upvotes explains how that weighting works.

The badge is also not the Product Hunt logo. For an article about Product Hunt itself, use the files on Product Hunt's branding page, which asks that the logo is not altered.

The rest of your launch-day kit

The badge is one of several launch assets. The launch assets page covers the thumbnail, gallery and first comment, and what is Product Hunt explains how a launch day works if this is your first one.

How LaunchPact fits

The badge brings your own visitors. LaunchPact brings founders who are launching too: you list your launch date, find founders launching near you, and agree to back each other's launches, with a screenshot to prove every upvote. It's free to join, and nobody pays for votes.

Product Hunt’s launch guide lists the badges under launch-day tasks: drop them onto your homepage, a sitewide banner or your blog so visitors can find your launch. After the day ends, keep the badge up or switch to the Top Post badge if you earned one.

The Featured badge says "Featured on Product Hunt" with your launch’s current score. The Top Post badge shows your rank and award, such as "#1 Product of the Day", and Product Hunt offers it only to launches that were a top post for their day or week.

Your launch’s current score, the same number Product Hunt’s API reports for the launch. Product Hunt ranks launches by points, not raw upvotes, and says not all upvotes carry the same weight, so the badge can show fewer than the upvotes you received.
