1. Who we are
LaunchPact (“LaunchPact”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates a network that helps Product Hunt founders discover peer launches, form mutual upvote pacts, and verify that those commitments were honoured on launch day.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using LaunchPact, you acknowledge that you have read this policy.
2. Information we collect
Account and profile information
When you register or update your account, we may collect:
- Email address
- Display name and public profile details you choose to provide
- Profile avatar, if you upload one
- Authentication identifiers from email sign-in or Google OAuth
- Account settings and notification preferences
Launch and product information
When you create or manage a launch listing, we collect information such as:
- Product name, tagline, description, and product URL
- Scheduled Product Hunt launch date and category or tags
- Launch thumbnail or screenshots used for feed display
- Product Hunt URL once your launch is live
- Launch status, visibility settings, and related metadata
Pacts, pledges, and network activity
To operate matching, notifications, and trust scoring, we process:
- Pledges you send or receive
- Pacts you form, accept, decline, or withdraw from
- Pact status, launch-day actions, and verification history
- Trust score and reputation signals derived from pact outcomes
- In-app notifications and related activity timestamps
Verification screenshots and automated review
When you upload Product Hunt screenshots to verify an upvote, we store the image and related metadata (upload time, pact reference, verification result, and review notes generated by our automated systems). These screenshots may contain Product Hunt interface elements, usernames, or other information visible in the image you choose to upload.
Payment information
If you purchase a launch credit, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We receive limited billing metadata such as payment status, transaction identifiers, purchase timestamps, and the number of credits granted. We do not receive or store your full payment card number.
During our MVP free-listing period, we may allow product listings without payment and record an internal listing reference instead of a Stripe payment ID.
Communications
If you contact us or receive service emails from LaunchPact, we process your email address, message content, and delivery metadata. We send transactional emails such as pledge notifications, pact updates, launch reminders, and verification outcomes when email delivery is enabled.
Technical and usage information
Like most web applications, we automatically collect certain technical information when you use the service, including browser type, device information, IP address, pages viewed, timestamps, and diagnostic logs needed to secure and operate the platform.
3. How we use your information
We use personal data to:
- Create and manage your account
- Display launches in the feed and on public profile pages
- Match founders, process pledges, and form pacts
- Send in-app and email notifications about launches, pledges, and pact status
- Verify upvote screenshots using automated review systems
- Calculate and display trust scores and reputation signals
- Process payments and grant launch credits
- Prevent fraud, abuse, duplicate submissions, and policy violations
- Maintain security, debug issues, and improve reliability
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
4. Legal bases for processing
Where applicable data protection laws require a legal basis, we rely on one or more of the following:
- Contract: processing needed to provide the service you signed up for, including account access, launch listings, pacts, and verification.
- Legitimate interests: operating, securing, and improving LaunchPact; preventing abuse; maintaining network integrity through trust scores; and sending essential service communications.
- Consent: where required for optional features or communications, or for certain authentication methods you choose to use.
- Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only as described below or with your direction.
Service providers
We use trusted processors to run LaunchPact, including:
- Supabase — authentication, database, file storage, and realtime features
- Stripe — payment processing when paid launch credits are enabled
- Resend — transactional email delivery
- Inngest — background jobs such as launch reminders and verification workflows
- LiteLLM / model providers — automated analysis of verification screenshots and optional launch-site analysis
- Scrape.do — optional website scraping and screenshot capture when creating or analyzing launch pages
- Google — if you choose Google OAuth sign-in
These providers process data on our behalf under contractual safeguards appropriate to their role.
Other users and public visibility
LaunchPact is a network product. Information you choose to make public — such as your display name, avatar, launch listings, trust score, and pact history visible on your profile — can be viewed by other users and visitors with access to those pages.
Legal and safety disclosures
We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal requests, protect the rights and safety of LaunchPact, our users, or others, or investigate fraud or abuse.
Business transfers
If LaunchPact is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to continued protection consistent with this policy.
6. Data retention
We retain personal data for as long as needed to provide the service and for legitimate business purposes, including:
- Account and profile data while your account is active
- Launch, pledge, and pact records needed to operate the network and display history
- Verification screenshots and review results for fraud prevention, dispute handling, and trust scoring
- Billing records as required for accounting, tax, and payment compliance
- Logs and security records for a limited period appropriate to their purpose
When you delete your account or request deletion, we will delete or anonymise personal data where feasible. We may retain limited information where required by law or where necessary to protect network integrity — for example, anonymised trust signals or records of verified abuse.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organisational measures designed to protect personal data, including access controls, encrypted transport, and provider security features. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal data, and to request portability where applicable.
You can also:
- Update profile information from your account settings
- Manage in-app notifications from the notifications area
- Request account deletion by emailing us
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, without affecting prior lawful processing

9. Cookies and local storage
LaunchPact uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, protect sessions, and operate core functionality. Some cookies are essential to the service. Where required by law, we will provide additional controls or notices for non-essential cookies.
10. International transfers
LaunchPact may process and store information in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. When we transfer personal data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards permitted by applicable law.
11. Children
LaunchPact is intended for founders and business users. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of LaunchPact after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
