1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of LaunchPact, including our website, applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account, purchasing a launch credit, or otherwise using LaunchPact, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use LaunchPact on behalf of a company or other entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old and capable of entering a binding contract to use LaunchPact. You may use the Service only in compliance with applicable laws and the terms of any third-party platforms you interact with through LaunchPact, including Product Hunt.
3. What LaunchPact provides
LaunchPact helps founders discover peer Product Hunt launches, send pledges of support, form mutual pacts, receive launch-day reminders, and verify upvotes using uploaded screenshots and automated review.
LaunchPact is a coordination and accountability layer for founders who choose to support one another. We do not guarantee Product Hunt rankings, traffic, revenue, press coverage, or any particular launch outcome. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Product Hunt or its parent companies.
4. Accounts and security
You may register using email or supported OAuth providers such as Google. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You agree to provide accurate information, keep your account details current, and notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse LaunchPact. Without limiting other restrictions, you will not:
- Submit fraudulent, misleading, or duplicate verification screenshots
- Form pacts or send pledges you do not intend to honour in good faith
- Use LaunchPact primarily to manipulate Product Hunt rankings through inauthentic coordination
- Harass, impersonate, spam, or abuse other users
- Upload malware, scrape the Service in violation of our systems, or attempt unauthorized access
- Reverse engineer, copy, or resell the Service except as permitted by law
- Use LaunchPact in any way that violates applicable law or third-party platform rules
LaunchPact is built around genuine support. You should only back launches you would authentically upvote after reviewing the product.
6. Launches, pledges, and pacts
Launch listings
To list your own launch in the network, you generally need an available launch credit unless we are running a free-credit promotion. You represent that you have the right to share the launch information you publish and that your listing is accurate.
Pledges
A pledge is a unilateral expression of support for another founder's launch. Sending a pledge does not create a pact until the receiving founder accepts it.
Pacts
When a launch owner accepts your pledge, a pact is formed. By accepting or entering a pact, you commit to showing up for your partner's launch in good faith and completing verification when required. You may not use pact formation to coerce unrelated commitments or exchange unrelated favours outside the scope of the Service.
Declining, withdrawing, or ending participation
Founders may decline incoming pledges before a pact is formed. Where the product provides withdrawal or cancellation flows, you must use them in good faith and in accordance with in-product rules. LaunchPact may update pact workflows as the product evolves.
7. Verification and trust scores
LaunchPact uses uploaded Product Hunt screenshots and automated review systems to confirm whether pact obligations appear to have been fulfilled. Verification is automated and may produce false positives or false negatives. LaunchPact may manually review edge cases but does not guarantee perfect accuracy.
We calculate trust scores and reputation signals from pact history, verification outcomes, broken commitments, and abuse signals. We may display these scores on profiles and use them to enforce limits, flag accounts, suspend access, or remove users from forming new pacts.
Attempts to game verification — including duplicate screenshots, manipulated images, or misrepresented upvotes — may result in rejected verification, score penalties, suspension, or termination.
8. Payments, credits, and refunds
During our MVP period, you may list products in the network for free without purchasing a launch credit. Free listing access is offered at our discretion and may be limited, modified, or discontinued at any time.
When paid launch credits are introduced, the terms in the next paragraph will apply to new listings created after that change. Listings created during the free MVP period remain subject to these Terms.
When paid launch credits are available, each launch credit is a one-time purchase that allows you to list one launch in the network. Prices, promotions, and packaging may change before checkout. Applicable taxes may be added where required.
Payments are processed by Stripe. By purchasing, you also agree to Stripe's applicable terms and privacy practices for payment processing.
Launch credits are generally non-transferable and non-refundable once used to create a launch listing or once a pact has been formed using that listing, except where required by law or explicitly stated at checkout. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us within 14 days at launchpactio@gmail.com.
9. Your content and our license
You retain ownership of content you submit to LaunchPact, including launch details, profile information, messages, and verification screenshots (“User Content”).
You grant LaunchPact a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and process User Content solely to operate, improve, and promote the Service — including showing your launch in the feed, displaying your profile, running verification, and sending related notifications.
You represent that you have all rights necessary to submit User Content and that doing so does not violate any third-party rights.
10. LaunchPact intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, branding, and documentation, is owned by LaunchPact or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited rights expressly granted in these Terms, no rights are transferred to you.
11. Third-party services and links
LaunchPact integrates with third-party services such as Product Hunt, Stripe, Google OAuth, and infrastructure providers. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms. LaunchPact is not responsible for third-party websites, products, or policies.
12. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that verification results, trust scores, reminders, or launch outcomes will meet your expectations.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LAUNCHPACT AND ITS OPERATORS, AFFILIATES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LAUNCHPACT'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO LAUNCHPACT IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) $29.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
14. Indemnification
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless LaunchPact and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your User Content, your pacts or launch activity, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
15. Suspension and termination
You may stop using LaunchPact at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure for us or other users, or if we discontinue the Service.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including payment obligations accrued before termination, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute provisions.
16. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may modify the Service or these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes to the Terms, we will post the updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes take effect when posted unless a later effective date is stated. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable where LaunchPact is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us at launchpactio@gmail.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally.
Except where prohibited by law, you and LaunchPact agree that any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the courts located where LaunchPact is operated, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
18. General
- Entire agreement: These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and LaunchPact regarding the Service.
- Severability: If any provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
- No waiver: Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
