How it works

Your question, answered from the data

The AI Launch Analyst doesn't answer from memory. It runs a query and shows you the query.

  1. 1

    Ask in plain English

Type a question about Product Hunt launches, like the best weekday for AI tools or the upvotes a top-5 finish takes.

  2. 2

    It picks the filters

The AI Launch Analyst turns your question into a query: topic, weekday, rank, team size, video, votes or comments, and what to compare.

  3. 3

    It runs the numbers

The query runs on every settled launch in LaunchPact's Product Hunt launch data, synced daily.

  4. 4

You see how it got there

The answer comes with the sample size, a chart, and a How we got this panel with the exact filters and definitions.

What it can't answer

Ask anyway: it says when the data can't answer and offers a question it can.

  • The best time of day to launch: almost every featured launch goes live at 12:01 AM Pacific
  • How fast votes come in during the day
  • Which hunter posted a launch
  • The traffic, signups or revenue a launch brought in
  • Launches outside the 6 topics it tracks
Why it's different

Stop guessing from one founder's launch

Most launch advice is one story, or a number with no source. Some say Tuesday, some say Sunday. Here every number comes with the launches behind it.

FAQ

Product Hunt launch questions, answered

LaunchPact syncs featured Product Hunt launches every day, going back to September 2024. A launch is counted once it has been featured for 24 hours, so its votes and rank have settled. The data covers launches tagged Artificial Intelligence, Developer Tools, Productivity, Design Tools, Marketing, SaaS. Launches that are only in other topics aren't in it, so a few daily ranks are missing on some days.

Sunday launches reached the top 5 59.7% of the time; Tuesday launches, 23%. Launch counts differ too: 754 on Sundays against 2,101 on Tuesdays. Your topic can change the answer, so ask the AI Launch Analyst about yours.

Almost every featured launch in the data went live at 12:01 AM Pacific, the start of the Product Hunt day, so it can't compare launch hours, and it doesn't record when votes came in during the day. What it can compare is the day you launch on.

In the data, #1 launches had a median of 548 upvotes (n=700), so about half had more. Medians further down: #2–3 370, #4–5 252, #6–10 158. The bar moves with the weekday and the topic, so ask the AI Launch Analyst for yours.

Teams of 4+ reached the top 5 54.6% of the time; solo makers, 17.7%. Teams of 2–3 reached it 39.6% of the time. Team size goes with other things, like a bigger network, so read it as an association, not a cause.

Launches with a video reached the top 5 35.1% of the time; launches without one, 23.9%. That's an association, not a cause: teams that make a video may also do other things well.

You ask in plain English. The AI Launch Analyst turns your question into a query on the data, with filters like topic, weekday, rank, team size, video, votes, comments or a word in the name or tagline, and groups the launches by what you're comparing. It runs the query and writes the answer from the results, with a chart and a How we got this panel.

It's instructed to use only the numbers its queries return, plus simple arithmetic on them, and to give the sample size for every group it compares. Every answer shows the queries behind it, so you can check. When the data can't answer, it says so and suggests a question it can answer.

The best time of day to launch: almost every featured launch goes live at 12:01 AM Pacific. How fast votes come in during the day. Which hunter posted a launch. The traffic, signups or revenue a launch brought in. Launches outside the 6 topics it tracks. Ask anyway: it tells you when the data can't answer and offers a question it can.

Every account gets 3 free questions a month, reset on the 1st (UTC). A question only uses a credit when it runs a query on the data, so a decline or a "can't answer" is free. After that, packs start at $9 for 15 questions. The Launch Package adds 8 questions.

Paid questions never expire. Free questions reset each month and don't roll over.
